| Links, Files, Resources: Understanding by Design by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe has been used again and again as design foundations for curriculum in many schools. Their focus in their first books was on the Unit of instruction. Recently they expanded their focus to courses and indeed the entire school. Their 2007 book Schooling by Design couldn't reach much further or deeper into the curricular design process. How can the UbD process relate to the creativity, flexibility and seeming chaos of the Web 2.0 world? Design theory and Connectivism - a longer lecture but rich and worthwhile listening to when you have time. Design and Connections For years the Open University in the UK has been at the forefront of on-line and distributed learning. This is one of the first thorough reviews of design issues and pedagogy in this new age.
